Responsibility Centers
A Responsibility Center is a specific segment, department, branch, or project within an organization for which a particular manager or team has accountability for revenues, expenses, or operations. This allows businesses to track financial performance regionally or project-by-project.
Purpose
The primary purpose of configuring Responsibility Centers is to enable segment reporting and granular financial analysis. By tagging transactions to a specific branch, project, or department, management can:
- Generate localized profit-and-loss statements.
- Monitor budget versus actual spending for specific projects.
- Isolate the financial health of individual business segments (e.g., branches, ministries, hotels).
How to Add a Responsibility Center
Follow these step-by-step instructions to create a new Responsibility Center in the system:
- Navigate to Configurations: On the left-hand sidebar menu, locate the SETUP section. Click on CONFIGURATIONS to expand the options, then look under Ledger Setup and select Responsibility Centers.
- Initiate the Creation: On the top right corner of the Responsibility Center dashboard, click the blue + Add button.
- Fill out the Code: In the form that appears, provide a unique identifier or short code for the new segment (e.g., B04 for a new branch or P05 for a new project).
- Enter the Name: Input a clear, recognizable name for the Responsibility Center (e.g., Cebu Branch or Manila - Project 3).
- Provide a Description (Optional): Add any additional contextual details or notes regarding the purpose of this center.
- Set Status: Ensure the status toggle or checkbox is marked as active so it becomes available for selection during transaction data entry.
- Save the Entry: Click the save or submit button to add the new Responsibility Center to your master list.
